Drain Jetting Machine In Drainage Van
3008 Petrol Jetting Machine

Have you ever wondered what the average drainage engineer carry's in their van?

Well we are here to help as we deal with thousands of drainage engineers every year and help them to kit out their vans with the essential equipment needed whether you are just starting out as a drainage engineer or you are adding another van to your fleet.

Why Choosing The Correct Tools Are Important

Before you fill your van up with lots of tools and equipment ready to hit the road for your first drainage jobs there are lots of things to consider but the two main considerations are:

  • Cost

  • Weight

It is easy to get carried away when kitting out a new drainage van and either spend lots of money on things that will never be used or buying too many items which tip's your van over the maximum weight limit.

Lets List Some Tools That We Consider To Be Essential To Have On Your Drain Jetting Van.

  1. Jetting Machine

  2. Manhole Keys And Lifters

  3. Barriers And Or Cones

  4. Drain Rods And Plungers

  5. PPE Equipment

  6. Access Point Kits

  1. So first of all is the biggest and most obvious one which is the drain jetting machine, as with out this you aren't really offering much more of a service than what the average member of the public can do with a quick trip to screw fix, so set your self above the rest straight away with a drain jetting machine. Our most popular 3008 jetting machine comes with the basic kit so it is ready to use when you take it away.

  2. Imagine turning up to a job and not having any manhole keys or lifters in the van!! In short you aren't going to be able to do the job if lifting a manhole is required and lets be honest before you arrive at the job you don't know whether the manhole will need to be lifted or not.

So we have a few different options in manhole keys from cheap £15 options to £300 magnetic "health and safety" approved lifters depending on your budget and if you want to make life easy or hard for your self.

  3. Barriers and cones are another essential piece of equipment that you should always carry on your van as an open man hole is a big danger to anyone in the area, Imagine opening up a manhole in a busy London street and not putting a barrier around it, not only if someone falls down it they will get injured there will also be a big health and safety investigation where the outcome will only be bad for you, So this is among a very important piece of equipment that we recommend to everyone.

  4. So drain rods and plungers are more of a subjective thing and some engineers like to carry them whilst other don't, The use of drain rods can be a lot faster than setting up and filling your drain jetting machine with water if the blockage isn't too bad with two different types of rod in standard and lockfast you can also get them in sizes of 1m and 2m with either 4" or 6" plungers.

  5. Again PPE is very important part of the job as it is all about the health and safety for you or your drainage engineers as well as keeping the public safe, We sell first aid kits which every van should carry in case of an incident as well as fire extinguishers in case of fire, Some of our other suggested PPE equipment includes Latex and PVC gloves and face masks to stop getting any nasty infections from unwanted bacteria on the skin.

  6. A very useful piece of equipment that we have been selling more and more of over recent years is the Access point bung kits, These kits are used to drill into a stack pipe or a pipe that has a blockage but no access. Inside the kit you are supplied with a diamond tipped drill bit, bungs and tools that is required to see the job through from start to finish. these kits are perfect for saving lots of time and money whilst on site as they are simple and cheap to use.
