Here at jetter conversions we offer both manual lifting keys as well as the magnetic lifting keys that you see above,
There is both pros and cons to both different types of key and i will just quickly run through the both to help you decide on what one would be right for you,
Magnetic Keys
We Offer a variety of different magnetic manhole lifting keys which all perform slightly differently and are priced accordingly, We have cheaper keys that don't lift quite as much weight but are perfect for if you are doing mainly domestic works and are lifting standard size manholes everyday and then we go onto selling bigger magnetic keys where you can double up to get get more of a fixing and have a two engineer lift.
Now these magnetic keys are more expensive than your standard manual keys but there are some massive advantages to these magnetic manhole lifters within the drainage industry which I will list them below:
They Are Magnetic: Being magnetic means that there is no need to be having to clean out dirty key holes or getting to a job to find that someone has tried lifting the manhole before and snapped a key in the eyelet meaning you 5 minute job turns into a nightmare, this is where the magnetic key comes into its own as you don't have to mess around with any of that, just simply drop the lifter onto the cover and lift!!
Health And Safety: These keys meet European health and safety standards for safe practices of work, The reason that they are so popular is because they are at a good height that you don't put too much strain on your back when lifting and re-covering a manhole, Also unlike traditional keys you don't have to have your hands anywhere near the manhole when removing or re-covering which eliminates the risk of trapped hands or fingers.
Easy To Store: These keys are very compact as they have a folding mechanism built in so when they are in your van they take up hardly no space, As well as their small and compact design they are also of a very good build quality so have very little to worry about in the way of issues or problems.
Durability: Being made out of good and strong materials is a must as we know these keys will be getting thrown around into vans etc so the build quality is top notch and the manufacturer says that the magnetic plate its self should last up to 10 years.
Standard Manhole Lifting Keys
Now standard manhole lifting keys aren't bad or dangerous and have the same outcome but when using these keys you are governed by lots of different variables when arriving at a job, For example manhole lifting eyes can sometimes be filled with dirt or rubbish and sometimes even worse things like tarmac or concrete, when this happens you now have a lot bigger job on your hands before you even start to do the job that you came for, Once this is cleared you have to hope that the manhole its self will lift easy enough that it doesn't snap a key in the eyelet.
