  • How to Choose the Right Jetting Machine for your Business

The best place to start when deciding which jetting machine is right for you is by looking at your business as it is now. Think about the jobs you actually do most often, the size of the drains you usually work on, how much room you have in your van, whether you usually work on your own or with someone else, and whether access is ever a challenge on site. Once you break it down like that, choosing the right jetting machine becomes much more straightforward, because you are choosing based on how you really work day to day.   If you mainly work on 4” and 6” drains   If most of your work is focused on 4-inch and 6-inch drains, our 3008 range  is usually the best place to start. These machines are built for the type of day-to-day drainage work many engineers are doing all the time, giving you strong, reliable performance without stepping into a larger commercial setup that you may not actually need.   From there, it really comes down to how you work and what matters most to you.   If you want a good all-rounder   If you want a good all-round jetting machine, our 3008 Standard Jetting Machine  is a strong place to start. It delivers 3000psi at 8 gallons per minute, is powered by a Honda GX630 petrol engine with a Speck pump and gearbox, and comes with a 250-litre water tank, 60 metres of 3/8" high-pressure hose, 50 metres of 1/2" inlet hose and a built-in antifreeze system. It also has an emergency stop, electric key start and a straightforward on-machine operating setup, which helps keep things simple and practical for everyday use.   For many customers, this is the machine that gives them the best balance. It is ideal for the domestic market, while still being versatile enough for many commercial jobs with the right nozzles. It is also compact enough to work well in a van-based setup without becoming overcomplicated. If you want a dependable van mounted jetting   machine that can cover a wide range of regular work, this is often the one we point people towards first.   If you often work on your own   If you regularly work alone, our 3008 Hardwire Jetting Machine  is well worth considering. It offers the same 3000psi at 8 gallons per minute as the standard 3008, again using a Honda petrol engine, Speck pump and gearbox, but with the added benefit of our hardwire remote system. This setup includes a 50-metre extension reel, a foot pedal and emergency stop,   The reason customers choose the Hardwire is convenience. It allows you to operate the machine from up to 50 metres away, which means you can stay closer to the mouth of the drain or work around the back of a property without constantly going back and forth to the van. For one-man operation, that can make a big difference to how manageable and efficient a job feels on site.   If space in the van matters   If van space is tight, our Compact Jetting Machine  is the option that will make the most sense for a lot of engineers. It gives you the same 3000psi / 8gpm performance as our other 3008 machines, but in a smaller format with a 180-litre water tank and a 200kg dry weight.   If you need to leave plenty of room for other tools and equipment, this machine gives you a powerful setup without taking over the whole van. The lower weight also helps if you are conscious of payload, vehicle wear and fuel use, while still giving you a machine that is more than capable of handling regular work on 4” and 6” drains.   If access is the biggest challenge   Sometimes the biggest challenge is not power or flow, but simply getting a machine where it needs to go. If you are regularly working in places where a van cannot get close enough, our Portable Jetting Machine can be the better fit. It delivers 3000psi at 8 gallons per minute, weighs 135kg, comes with a 150-litre tank, 60 metres of high-pressure hose on a portable reel, and has detachable handles to make it easier to manoeuvre.   We designed this machine for jobs in confined spaces or areas that are not accessible by vans, such as underground car parks, office blocks, train stations and large blocks of flats. It can also be used as both a jetting machine and a jet wash machine with a lance, which adds another layer of versatility.   If your work is moving more into commercial drainage   Once your workload starts moving more into commercial drainage, the type of machine you need usually changes. More demanding jobs often need more water flow, a longer hose and a setup that is designed for bigger pipework and longer runs. That is where the 3012 Jetting Machine comes in. It delivers 3000psi with 12 gallons per minute of flow, is diesel powered, and comes with 90 metres of 1/2-inch jetting hose. It is particularly well suited to commercial cleaning and descaling work on 9 inch pipework where a bigger machine makes a real difference.   This is the machine for businesses that are starting to move beyond mainly domestic work and need something with more commercial capability behind it. If you are finding that the jobs on the diary are getting bigger, heavier or more demanding, the 3012 gives you that next step up without jumping straight to the very top end of the range. It is a sensible move for engineers whose business is evolving and who need their equipment to evolve with it.     If you are regularly working on 9” drains and above   Our 4012 Jetting Machine  is our largest and most heavy-duty machine, built for engineers who spend most of their time carrying out commercial drainage work. With 4000psi at 12gpm, 90 metres of 1/2" high-pressure hose, a diesel Kioti engine and a variable-speed hydraulic reel, it is designed for long runs, larger pipework and more demanding jobs where extra performance makes a real difference.   This machine is particularly well suited to engineers regularly working on 9" drains and above. It comes equipped with the features you would expect from a serious commercial setup, including built-in antifreeze, a low-water cut-out, return valve, water filter, variable throttle and a clear sight glass. If you need serious jetting power from a van-mounted jetting machine, the 4012 is built to deliver it.     Quick guide: which Jetting Machine suits your business?   Scenario Which Jetting Machine Why You want a good all-round machine for day-to-day drainage work 3008 Standard Our dependable all-rounder, ideal for regular use across a wide range of everyday jobs You regularly work on your own 3008 Hardwire   Lets you control the water from up to 50 metres away, making one-man operation easier and more practical You mainly work on 4” and 6” drains but want to save space in the van Compact Jetting Machine Gives you the same strong performance as our standard 3008 in a smaller, more space-efficient setup Access is often the biggest challenge on site Portable Jetting Machine Ideal for jobs where a van cannot get close enough, while still delivering strong jetting performance Your work is moving more into commercial drainage 3012 A clear step up for heavier commercial work, with more flow, more hose and a more capable setup You are regularly working on 9” drains and above 4012   Our heaviest-duty machine, built for larger drains, longer runs and tougher commercial jobs   Want to learn more?   If you would like to take a closer look at our range, click here  to compare the different jetting machines in more detail and see which one could be the best fit for your work. • Patch Lining: What it is, why it matters, and why more engineers are offering it

At Jetter Conversions we stock a wide range of patch lining equipment — from patch kits and packers to liners, resins and accessories.   If you work in drainage, you’ll know that customers are often not looking for the biggest job. In many cases, they want the smartest fix — something practical, cost-effective and with as little disruption as possible. That’s exactly why patch lining has become such a useful service for so many engineers.   What is patch lining?   Patch lining is a trenchless repair method used to fix a damaged section of pipe without digging up and replacing the full run.   In simple terms, it allows you to repair a localised defect from inside the pipe itself. Using the right patch lining equipment, the damaged section can be reinforced internally, creating a strong repair while avoiding the time, mess and disruption that comes with excavation.   It is a smart, practical solution and one that more drainage engineers are choosing to offer as part of their service. It sits neatly between a basic clearance job and a full dig-up repair, giving engineers another service to offer when CCTV inspections or drainage investigations uncover localised damage.   And for customers, it often means: Less disruption Less mess Less downtime A more cost-effective repair option     Why patch lining can be good for your business   If you are not already offering patch lining, it can be a great addition to your business. A lot of drainage companies are already carrying out inspections, jetting and general repair work. Patch lining is a natural next step because it gives you the opportunity to keep more work in-house and offer more value from the jobs you are already attending.   Instead of identifying a problem and handing the repair over to another contractor, you may be able to carry out the repair yourself.   That can help your business: Create another revenue stream Get more value from CCTV and inspection work Offer a more complete service to customers Keep repair work in-house Stand out from competitors who only offer investigation or clearance   From our point of view, patch lining is one of those services that just makes sense for a lot of drainage businesses.     Why you should be buying your equipment from Jetter Conversions   Whether you already offer patch lining or are looking to get started, choosing the right equipment — and the right supplier — is an important part of getting it right.   At Jetter Conversions, we like to keep things simple. With decades of experience in the drainage industry, we are always happy to offer friendly, practical advice, alongside a wide range of patch lining products at competitive prices. Our latest item to start stocking is the Tiger Tail. What Is It Used For?: The Tiger Tail is used in the mouth of a drain entrance or to go around a sharp edge that your jetting hose would usually be rubbing upon during jetting work, The reason these tiger tails are very useful in these situations is because if you let your hose rub on the mouth of the manhole then in no time at all you will start to rub the outer rubber layer of the hose off. If the outer rubber of the hose is rubbed away it leaves exposed wires that can be very dangerous and sharp, Not only does this mean that you cannot feed the hose through your hands when entering or removing from a drain but it also means that there is increased risk of your jetting hose bursting. Another big problem with exposed wires on your jetting hose is when you pull the hose out and get cut from the sharp nature of these wires there s a very high possibility of infection due to these hoses being in raw sewage and having many different types of bacteria on them. • Drain Jetting Van Essentials

3008 Petrol Jetting Machine Have you ever wondered what the average drainage engineer carry's in their van? Well we are here to help as we deal with thousands of drainage engineers every year and help them to kit out their vans with the essential equipment needed whether you are just starting out as a drainage engineer or you are adding another van to your fleet. Why Choosing The Correct Tools Are Important Before you fill your van up with lots of tools and equipment ready to hit the road for your first drainage jobs there are lots of things to consider but the two main considerations are: Cost Weight It is easy to get carried away when kitting out a new drainage van and either spend lots of money on things that will never be used or buying too many items which tip's your van over the maximum weight limit. Lets List Some Tools That We Consider To Be Essential To Have On Your Drain Jetting Van. Jetting Machine Manhole Keys And Lifters Barriers And Or Cones Drain Rods And Plungers PPE Equipment Access Point Kits So first of all is the biggest and most obvious one which is the drain jetting machine, as with out this you aren't really offering much more of a service than what the average member of the public can do with a quick trip to screw fix, so set your self above the rest straight away with a drain jetting machine. Our most popular 3008 jetting machine comes with the basic kit so it is ready to use when you take it away. Imagine turning up to a job and not having any manhole keys or lifters in the van!! In short you aren't going to be able to do the job if lifting a manhole is required and lets be honest before you arrive at the job you don't know whether the manhole will need to be lifted or not. So we have a few different options in manhole keys from cheap £15 options to £300 magnetic "health and safety" approved lifters depending on your budget and if you want to make life easy or hard for your self. Barriers and cones are another essential piece of equipment that you should always carry on your van as an open man hole is a big danger to anyone in the area, Imagine opening up a manhole in a busy London street and not putting a barrier around it, not only if someone falls down it they will get injured there will also be a big health and safety investigation where the outcome will only be bad for you, So this is among a very important piece of equipment that we recommend to everyone. So drain rods and plungers are more of a subjective thing and some engineers like to carry them whilst other don't, The use of drain rods can be a lot faster than setting up and filling your drain jetting machine with water if the blockage isn't too bad with two different types of rod in standard and lockfast you can also get them in sizes of 1m and 2m with either 4" or 6" plungers. Again PPE is very important part of the job as it is all about the health and safety for you or your drainage engineers as well as keeping the public safe, We sell first aid kits which every van should carry in case of an incident as well as fire extinguishers in case of fire, Some of our other suggested PPE equipment includes Latex and PVC gloves and face masks to stop getting any nasty infections from unwanted bacteria on the skin. A very useful piece of equipment that we have been selling more and more of over recent years is the Access point bung kits, These kits are used to drill into a stack pipe or a pipe that has a blockage but no access. Inside the kit you are supplied with a diamond tipped drill bit, bungs and tools that is required to see the job through from start to finish. these kits are perfect for saving lots of time and money whilst on site as they are simple and cheap to use. There Is Also Lots Of Non-Essential But Very Helpful Equipment That Can Be Carried On A Drainage Van: Here I will list a few items that not every drainage engineer carries on-board but can be extremely useful if carried. Ratgates - Rodent Prevention Device Milwaukee m18 Hand Held Drain Cleaner Ridgid Flexshaft 102 Or 204 Hammer, Flathead Screwdrivers Drain Dye Gully Grabs Toilet Augers Toilet Plungers PVC Gloves And Long Blue Gauntlets Nozzle Holders Manhole Key Holders Odour zone And Air Fresheners I will be covering all of the above in more detail on future blog posts as to why you would have these items on your van, what they are used for and why its going to make the jobs a lot faster and easier.
